Using Printer Stands in Corporate Offices

By

If you work in a corporate office, printing may be a task that you do on a daily basis. First, you go to your workstation, print a document, go to the printer, get your papers and you are on your way back to your work station. That’s about it. It may have missed your attention though that your printer is sitting on a HP printer stand. Little do you know, that most printer stands in the office offer more than just holding a printer high.

Ergonomics

Printer stands are designed with the concept of ergonomics in mind. This means that printer stands are made in order to make things easier for you in the office. Printers that are designed for office use normally have additional lower trays for additional capacity. The existence of these lower trays make the height of the printer too high to be placed on a desk and too low to be placed on the ground. Hence a stand is necessary. Having a printer stand will enable to you to work with the printers without having to bend over forward or raise your heads uncomfortably. Repetitively doing such tasks may have adverse effects on one’s posture.

Safety Reasons

Aside from ergonomics, printer stands offer safety. This may be hard to understand since a printer stand only elevates a printer to a comfortable level. Well, that is correct, however having a printer stand, especially those metallic types, also offer more ground conductivity. Corporate offices normally have carpeted or insulated floors and these scenarios make it conducive for ESD or what we normally call electro-static-discharge. The additional grounding will allow stray charges from metallic parts of the printer to go directly to the ground instead of the user. Having the printers elevated also lessens the risk of damaging them if liquids are spilled near the base of the printer.

Additional Storage Space

Another great use for printer stands is that they offer you additional storage capability. There are stands with a lot of compartments which are intended for the storage of printing supplies. It doesn’t mean however that they can’t be used to store anything else. Corporate offices commonly use this extra space or desktop for their coffee dispenser. We are not suggesting that you use the extra space as such. However it would be good to have something to drink while waiting for your printing to be done.

Printer stands offer than just holding your printer high. With the right type of printer stand, you are able to enjoy all of the benefits of having a printer stand though you may not be fully aware of them. Some stands may offer more than the others since they come in different shapes and sizes. They also come in different materials, wood, metal or plastic. Each kind has its own strengths and weaknesses. So far, we only covered on what all of them generally offer.

As you can see, a HP printer stand is a very important fixture in a corporate office. They were built with your well-being as their primary concern.
